TEETH GNASHERS
THE SONG “HEY SOUL SISTER” BY TRAIN

“Meet Virginia” has to be one of my favorite songs of all time. But that was well before Train came out with “Hey, Soul Sister”, which has to be one of the worst and most annoying songs I have ever heard.

It’s overplayed, and (displayed bluntly by the word over) that already makes it annoying. But that stupid, almost country and western twang the singer puts on his voice makes it unbearable to listen to. After awhile, it becomes very irritating to hear this song on every station you turn to. Every station. And if you listen to the radio often enough (which I do) you notice that it’s the same part every time. It’s always the same, nonsensical, annoying part every time you go past “Hey, Soul Sister”.

            “Like a virgin, you’re Madonna.”

The line already makes you cringe with frustration, does it not? Throw in the guy’s randomly cheerful voice, twinkling, repetitive musical accompaniment, and the fact that you can’t walk into a single high school without at least one, nerdy and hyper girl singing that line, and you’ve perhaps found the most annoying song of the new decade.

And that’s saying a lot, especially because Lady Gaga’s “Alejandro” is pretty annoying.
